My first couponing haul video!

My first video-Yeah!!!! Can’t wait to add the couponing tips and contents on this blog. Stick around and you’ll learn what I’ve learned.

I finally figured it out!

Finally, I figured out which direction I want to take my business in! Since the economy has taken a nose dive, many are seeking ways to save money. And as business owners know, we have to adapt our business when the public changes. Well, I’ve been saving money ever since I became an aromatherapist and started making many of my own products. So I got hooked on this “extreme couponing” not like the majority of them on the show, but the kind that’s realistic and makes sense.
So not only will I expose direct sales companies and toxic products, and share reviews, but I will also share healthy and green money saving deals. In addition to the aromatherapy workshops, I will also include couponing classes for those who are interested. I find it to be enjoyable and profitable!

I’m Backkkkk!

Hi everyone, Let’s try this again! I lost my desire for direct selling for awhile; it just wasn’t interesting to me anymore. And due to health issues, I could no longer use most of the skin care out there, nor lift many of the products, or had an interest in any of the other products. So over the next few weeks, you’ll receive some reviews about my journey. I’m living on a “green tip” now, so you’ll get lots of reviews of products and companies in the direct sales arena. I still have yet to find a company that I think will meet all of my needs, so my journey will continue. So, stay tuned for updates on that as well. So here goes…

Blogger update and changes

Hi everyone,

I mentioned before that I was out awhile due to illness. It’s turned out to be more than complications from the car accident. But, it’s getting under control. I had to revamp my business, so this blog as you know it will change. I will still do product reviews of direct sales companies and products, but I will also do reviews of other products, especially organic. I realized that I had more to “Speak on” ! You will also see posts about the truth when it comes to personal care products making organic claims. I recently had a family member to die from the rarest and deadliest form of uterine cancer. When we reseached possible causes, it’s main cause was too much estrogen feeding the cancer cells. Since I know that many ingredients in personal care products are hormone disruptors, I can’t with good conscious sell or endorse a product that can give someone cancer! So, I’ve decided to go in a different direction with the blog. I’ve got to let my readers know what kind of danger we’re putting our lives in. The public has the right to know and make an educated decision on the products that they use on themselves and their families. So stay tuned for the new and improved Speak On It!

Direct Sales Industry is Changing

Boy, is this industry changing! It more competitive and less party friendly. People do not have time to party anymore-at least not like this. You’ll be seeing some new posts regarding some of these changes. And expect more company reviews coming up. This is a recession; we don’t need to waste money on kits only to quit later.

The Truth About Avon

Well, I was just looking though my Yahoo groups emails, and I saw these poor Avon “hopefuls” advertising their biz for sales and recruiting. So I just had to Speak On It. {Special Note: I will use many exclamation points in this review. It is not a sign of yelling, but I’m merely being sarcastic.}

The Great Things About Avon
*It is a branded company
Companies that people already know about tend to do better because the general public feel that they are legitimate. So that works to the reps advantage.

*The products are good
People trust the products and have stood the test of time. Heck, our grandmothers used Avon! And the shoes are dynamic- not cheap- but really comfortable. Also, Avon’s makeup is ahead of technology. You can pick up a copy of the “Beauty Bible”, Allure magazine, and see the very trends of Avon right on the pages, not to mention their ads.

*Low Start Up Costs
It’s on $10 to join Avon. That is the cheapest start up for a legitimate direct sales company (not affiliate programs who usually have free start ups also) in the industry.

Those are just a few positive things that I noted with Avon. But, as my grandmothers says, “Everything that shines ain’t gold!” So here is the downside of Avon.

The Truth About Avon
*Commission structure
You’re going to love selling Avon your first 4 campaigns of business because you get 50% off commission on all of the “core” products, meaning the skin care, make up, body care, fragrances, and some jewelry. But, at all times, you make only 20% on the children’s items, clothing, other jewelry, shoes, purses and other non core items. These items are usually priced higher and people love to buy them, but you don’t make hardly anything on these items. And they try to teach you strategies on how to increase core product sales, and people still end up buying what they want to buy which is usually the 20% items.

After the first 4 campaigns, the commission goes on a tier structure. So, in order to earn 50% again on the core items, you need to sell almost $1600 per campaign! That’s a lot of Avon! This can be a pain in the butt because these are individual deliveries-not a party delivery. And did I mention that the campaigns are every 2 weeks? so that means that you would need to sell $3,200 for the month to get 50% commission for the month. So that’s why some reps are satisfied with $425 per campaign in order to get 40%

But, even if you meet the required sales for 40% or even 50%, backorders or sold out products can drop you down the scale. Therefore, if you would have had 50%, you’ll drop down to 40% because some items were missing or on backorder. One of my Avon friends stated to me that she felt the company does that on purpose because she makes her 50% every campaign, but because of missing items, her commissions drops each time. That’s her experience, so I can’t say whether the company does that deliberately or not.

*Representives Leave Out Just as Fast as they Come In
The sponsoring program is designed to sponsor people quickly and at a great price. The problem with this is the fact that you end up with people on your team that quickly become disappointed once they receive their first invoice. Also, you may receive annoying emails from a district manager begging for reps to sign up more people to meet the district’s requirements. This drives many reps to desperately sign up people who never plans to do anything with the business-they just serve to fill a quota. This presents a problem because it breed negative energy which is the last thing you need in direct sales. I heard a network marketing seminar once, and the speaker made the statement, “the compensation plan, drives the behavior of the consultants.” In other words, desperate means cause for desperate measures. And that’s almost always the case in Avon’s leadership program.

Oh, and did I mention that there is NO online recruiting unless you’re in a “test” district? (A test district is a district in a certain geograpical location that Avon has allowed to do online recruiting just to see how it’s going to work for the company). It’s suppose to be only face-to-face recruiting, and if a rep that’s not in a test district is caught recruiting online, she can lose her leadership status.

Uh, I don’t think so! Come into the 21st century, why don’t ya? Everybody’s online recruiting!

*Read the Fine Print
When you receive your invoice, you will see a processing fee, customer fees, and you need to order catalogs and leaflets, not to mention samples and other supplies. I had the personal experience of collecting $300 in sales on all 20% items, and I had to take out all of these fees, order catalogs, and ordered some demonstration products, and I made negative $15 . So, I was actually in the hole! Well, when the reps that you sponsor experience this a few times, you can’t honestly expect them to stay, can you?

*Avon never gives you a break.
If you happen to get sick one campaign, you get behind if you don’t place an order. This is very annoying! Sometimes, I don’t feel like doing Avon; can I have a life, please! I was truly upset when I almost lost my life in a car accident and was injured and is still in physical therapy, and my uplines are asking me when I’m going to place my next order. In between pain pills and doctor’s visits, I’ll let you know.

So, that was it for me; I now sell Avon just to a few friends and family and to order things for myself. I no longer burn all of my gas, run up my phone bill, or demean myself by acting desperately to keep my leadership status. Now I enjoy what I do with my new company. The owner of this DSA member company called ME and asked ME to help launch the US division of her company. In all fairness to Avon and as an ethical business person, I will not post the name of the company. But, since this company is a MDSA client now, you can visit my direct selling PR and resource network and read about it members. Finally, someone recognizes my work and appreciates it.

Have a Coke Roast with Home and Garden Party

hgp.jpg
Last week, I had relatives in town, and I had to think of some easy innovative dishes to prepare. Then suddenly, I remembered the Bean Pot from Home and Garden Party! This stoneware pot can cook a miracle meal with minimal preparation. But, it’s so cute that you hate to cook in it.

Since I’m notorious for forgetting things that I put in the oven, this pot cleans up ‘burntness’ well. LOL All you have to do is soak it for a bit and it will scrub right off. So even non cookers can cook well with this pot.

Each piece of stoneware that you purchase from Home and Garden Party will come with a mini recipe book with recipes for their stoneware collection. But, if you want to have multiple uses for their entire collection, I recommend that you purchase the large recipe book which is full of recipes that will show you how to use each piece of stoneware in the collection.

My family insists on this roast recipe for life:

3 lb Roast
1 can of Coca Cola (I use Diet Rite, it’s less sweet)
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 package of gravy dry mix (optional)

Place a seasoned roast in the Bean Pot. Pour the can of coke over the roast. Cover and
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Add Cream of Mushroom soup. Cook for another 1 hour and 30 minutes. (If the gravy is not thick enough for you, you can add a package of gravy mix after cooking for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Total cooking time 3 hours.)
You can also add potatoes and carrots as well after the first hour and a half of cooking.

Yummy!!!

If you want to cook your own coke roast in your own bean pot, contact Victoria Whitecotten at http://www.homeandgardenparty.com

Her web ID is victoriawhitecotton although you should be able to choose your designer from a list when placing your order.

MIA for awhile

Hi everyone,

Sorry that I’ve been missing in action for a bit, but I was having a tough time after a recent surgery. As you know, health comes first. But while I was away, I have been keeping tabs on the direct selling industry, and there has been a few things happening. I’ll be blogging those this week. I have a few reviews in que that I would like to share with you as well.

So keep on the watch!

Mannatech Gets Sued

It’s about doggone time! These companies that claim to “cure” incurable diseases should get the Attorney General after them. That is one of my biggest pet peeves is to see these companies and their representatives taking advantage of sick people by making them pay for false hopes.

Read my article at Bella Online for Women about these companies.
Here…

And read more about what Texas decided to do to Mannatech.

Here…

What do you think of a campaign to forward information to the Attorney General in our states when we see these bogus companies and their reps making claims for a cure?

Daisy Blue Naturals was on my direct sales journey.

dnb.jpg
Since I began this blog, I told you about my journey to find the right direct sales company for me. Well, Daisy Blue Naturals was on my path. I signed up with DNB around 2 years ago. I was very interested in their product line because of how natural it really is. I must admit, a greal deal of what I know about skin care ingredients came from this company. So, why didn’t I stick with DNB?

Product Review
I can’t say anything bad about the products, but I can’t say anything spectacular about them either. If you or your customer are not environmentalist, vegan, naturalists, etc…, then you may not like the product line of this company. These products are extremely natural, and you may not be use to its purity. The majority of the people in my area prefer companies with a little more pizzazz. This product line doesn’t have it.

I was impressed with the function of the product. The Peppermint Foot Cream is probably the best foot cream that I have used thus far. It can really transform your feet. I like the Peppermint Foot Crystals because of the added peppermint oil to the salts makes them less drying, and it add moisture to your feet while soaking.

The lotions are very gentle and functions well also. This is when I first fell in love the the Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey. I would use this lotion and people would stop and ask me what was I wearing. The added goat’s milk makes this lotion a creamy delight. So, I give big shouts out for this one.

The body oils were a different story. I wasn’t too thilled with those; they felt like rubbing on vegetable oil. The scent didn’t last long either and if you kept the product more than a year, it would have no scent at all. The oils were not one of my favorites.

The facial line took some getting use to. One thing about natural facial care is that your skin will get worse before it gets better. The reasoning behind this is the natural products are removing toxins from your skin, and after this is done, then your skin will start to clear up again. Well, this doesn’t work so well with my customers. One thing that I knew as a Jafra consultant for a number of years, is that if people can’t touch and feel the difference in their skin the night of the party, then you can forget a sale. Customers don’t want to hear that it will be 6-8 weeks before you see a difference. No, they want to feel a difference right then. Of course, we know that no skin care can perform an immediate miracle, but there are some lines that the customers can feel that their skin is softer or that it’s a little brighter, the first time they use it. If that wasn’t the case, then why even bother to demonstrate a facial at a party! So, for that reason, Daisy Blue got the boot.

Company Review
It was difficult for me to give Daisy Blue the boot because of the company’s compensation plan. It was average as far as the commission structure of 30% , and you could get a rebate of 5-7% depending on the sale for the month. The multi-level marketing plan was good too; I could actually see myself climbing the Blue ladder, so to speak.

The company has a paid hostess plan and awesome hostess sales incentive. They have a special of the month that you can promote and dynamite consultant incentives, including an annual incentive plan. Uhum, this is making me rethink this company.

The training program is awesome! You will know what you’re doing at a DNB party. The company has monthly newsletters, company conference calls, annual conventions, and even a weekly email especially for consultants.

So, again why did I leave Daisy Blue Naturals? Well, the company was a bit boring for me. I dont like the “cheerleader” type companies, but I didn’t want to be apart of a humdrum one either. That, coupled with the product concerns, I decided to continue my search.

Overall, I think that Daisy Blue Naturals is one of the best companies in the direct selling industry. If you and the people in your area really understands and cares about what they put on their skin, then this would be the perfect company for you.

If you want more information about Daisy Blue Natural and to be on the team of the best upline person I know, please contact Donna Broadwell. If she ever emails me and tells me that she joined a different company, I’ll probably follow right behind her.
